The short answer
The MacBook Neo 13" fits the 14" Plant Inside sleeve. Its chassis measures 29.8 × 20.6 cm — and the 14" sleeve's inner dimensions are 34 × 24 cm, giving the Neo a comfortable margin of 4.2 cm in width and 3.4 cm in height. The felt lining holds it securely in place; the extra room makes sliding it in and out easier, not sloppier.
The same applies to the MacBook Air 13": chassis 30.4 × 21.5 cm, same sleeve, margin of 3.6 cm in width.
Quick answer: MacBook Neo 13" and MacBook Air 13" → 14" sleeve (inner dimensions 34 × 24 cm). MacBook Air 15" → 16" sleeve (inner dimensions 39 × 27 cm).
Chassis dimensions and sleeve fit
Sleeve sizing is about the physical chassis — not the screen diagonal. Two laptops both marketed as "13 inch" can have different footprints. Here's exactly what fits where:
|
Model |
Chassis dimensions |
Plant Inside sleeve |
Width margin |
|
MacBook Neo 13" |
29.8 × 20.6 cm |
14" (inner: 34 × 24 cm) |
4.2 cm |
|
MacBook Air 13" |
30.4 × 21.5 cm |
14" (inner: 34 × 24 cm) |
3.6 cm |
|
MacBook Air 15" |
34.0 × 23.8 cm |
16" (inner: 39 × 27 cm) |
5.0 cm |
All dimensions verified against Apple's official specifications.

A note on the MacBook Air 15": its chassis width is 34.0 cm — essentially identical to the inner width of the 14" sleeve. It physically cannot fit in the 14" sleeve. The 16" sleeve is the only option, and it works very comfortably with a 5 cm margin.

One honest note: the Plant Inside sleeve is not a hard-shell case. It protects against scratches and everyday bumps. Under sustained pressure in a very full backpack, the edges can curl slightly over time — the protective function stays intact, but it's worth knowing upfront.
How to measure your laptop for a sleeve
Not sure about your specific model? Measure it yourself in three steps:
Step 1: Close the laptop and measure its width — left edge to right edge.
Step 2: Measure its depth — front edge to back edge.
Step 3: Compare with the sleeve's inner dimensions. A margin of 2–4 cm is comfortable. Too tight and it won't slide in smoothly; too loose and the laptop shifts around.
For the Plant Inside 14" sleeve: inner dimensions 34 × 24 cm.
For the Plant Inside 16" sleeve: inner dimensions 39 × 27 cm.
Did you know? The "inch" number on a laptop refers to the screen diagonal — not the physical width of the device. A MacBook Neo and a MacBook Air both carry a "13-inch" label, but the Neo's chassis (29.8 cm wide) is actually 6 mm narrower than the Air's (30.4 cm). For sleeve sizing, always go by chassis dimensions, not screen size. (Source: Apple Technical Specifications, 2026)

MacBook Air 15" — does it fit?
Short answer: not in the 14" sleeve. The MacBook Air 15" has a chassis of 34.0 × 23.8 cm — its width matches the inner width of the 14" sleeve almost exactly, leaving no practical margin. Forcing it in would damage both the laptop and the sleeve over time.
It fits the 16" sleeve (inner dimensions 39 × 27 cm) with a margin of 5 cm in width — a very comfortable fit for daily use.
If you have a MacBook Air 15", go straight to the 16" sleeve. Both sleeve sizes weigh ~149 g, so there's no weight penalty for going larger.
Why Washpapa® and not neoprene or PU
Most laptop sleeves are made from neoprene or standard PU — both petroleum-based plastics. They work, but they're not built to last and they carry no particular environmental standard.
Our sleeves are made from Washpapa® Aged — a plant-based paper textile produced in Germany from long cellulose fibres reinforced with synthetic latex. Water-resistant, tear-resistant, certified with Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and FSC®. No animal materials. No petroleum base.
In practice: marks wipe off with a damp cloth and mild soap. The surface develops a slight patina over time — most people come to like it.

Everything about what Washpapa® actually is and how it's made is in our dedicated article What Is Washpapa®? – The Plant-Based Paper Textile from Germany.
Our sleeves come in five colours — Black, Chocolate, Navy Blue, Sahara and Pastel Plum — in both 14" and 16". If you want to know when a sleeve is enough on its own and when you need a full bag, Laptop Sleeve Instead of a Bag – When Is It Enough? covers that honestly.

FAQ
Does a 13-inch MacBook fit a 14-inch sleeve?
Yes — both the MacBook Neo 13" (29.8 × 20.6 cm) and the MacBook Air 13" (30.4 × 21.5 cm) fit comfortably in the 14" sleeve (inner dimensions 34 × 24 cm). The Neo has slightly more room, which makes it particularly easy to use daily.
What size case for MacBook Air 15"?
The 16" sleeve. The MacBook Air 15" chassis is 34.0 × 23.8 cm — its width matches the inner width of the 14" sleeve exactly, leaving no usable margin. In the 16" sleeve it has a comfortable 5 cm margin in width.
What's the difference between the MacBook Neo and MacBook Air 13" sleeve fit?
Both fit the 14" sleeve. The Neo (29.8 cm wide) has a 4.2 cm width margin; the Air 13" (30.4 cm wide) has 3.6 cm. In practice both feel equally secure — the felt lining keeps either device firmly in place.
Is the 14" sleeve too big for the MacBook Neo?
No. A 4.2 cm margin sounds generous, but the felt-lined laptop compartment keeps the device firmly in place. The slightly larger margin actually makes it easier to slide the Neo in and out one-handed.
Can I use the same sleeve for both a MacBook Neo and a MacBook Air 13"?
Yes — both fit the 14" sleeve without any adjustment. If you switch between the two devices, the sleeve works for either.
Does the sleeve protect against drops?
The sleeve protects against scratches and everyday impacts thanks to the felt lining and structured Washpapa® exterior. It's not a hard-shell case and won't absorb a heavy fall. For daily commuting — carried by hand or inside a tote — it's more than adequate.
How do I clean the sleeve?
Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap. Air dry. No special products needed. Washpapa® is water-resistant — liquids bead off the surface without penetrating.
What colours are available?
Black, Chocolate, Navy Blue, Sahara and Pastel Plum — all available in both 14" and 16".
