And Why It’s More Than Just a Label.**

**Vegan. Cruelty-free. Animal-friendly.

Three words that sound great – but are they all the same?**

In conscious fashion, terms like vegan, cruelty-free, and animal-friendly are often used interchangeably.

But if you dig a little deeper, you’ll see that they don’t always mean the same thing.

At Plant Inside, “animal-friendly” is more than a claim – it’s a commitment.

A value we live by. Backed by a PETA certification we’ve held for over 3 years.

Let’s unpack what that really means.

1. “Animal-friendly” – more than just vegan

  • Vegan = no animal ingredients
  • Cruelty-free = no animal testing (usually in cosmetics)
  • Animal-friendly = goes further: no wool, leather, glue, dyes, or production linked to animal suffering

So yes – all animal-friendly products are vegan.

But not all vegan products are truly animal-friendly.

2. Not all vegan products are eco-friendly

Let’s talk about PU leather and “vegan leather”.

Sure – they’re animal-free.

But they’re often made from plastic, with serious environmental consequences:

  • petroleum-based
  • not recyclable
  • breaks down into microplastics
  • often cracks or wears quickly

So “no animals” isn’t enough.

Not if the alternative pollutes the planet we all share.

3. What “animal-friendly” means at Plant Inside

This is what we stand for:

✔️ 100% vegan – since day one

✔️ PETA-certified – for over 3 years

✔️ No leather, wool, or animal-based glues or dyes

✔️ No animal testing – anywhere in our supply chain

✔️ No plastic-based “vegan” leather – instead:

  • Viridis®: made from corn, breathable and durable
  • Washpapa®: paper-based, strong and recyclable
  • Organic cotton: used in linings and main fabrics (e.g. in our Weekend Bags or Vegan Crossbody Bags)

4. Why short supply chains matter too

It’s not just what something is made from.

It’s also how and where it’s made.

Cheap “vegan” bags from Asia may still be tied to:

  • industrial animal farming (leather byproducts)
  • chemical tanning and toxic runoff
  • poor working conditions
  • long, carbon-heavy transport

At Plant Inside:

Our materials are sourced in Europe

Our bags are handmade in Poland

Our supply chain is short, visible, and ethical

Animal-friendly also means planet- and people-friendly.

**Bottom line: Animal-friendly is not a trend.

It’s a responsibility.**

What you carry matters.

Not just to you – but to the world around you.
