There are things no machine can replace.
The sound of a needle cutting through fabric.
The quiet rhythm of hands that know their work.
And the trust between people who create with care.
Every Plant Inside bag begins not with a machine, but with a person.
With experience, patience — and a story.
Who Sews the Plant Inside Bags?
Plant Inside bags are hand-sewn in three small workshops in Poland: in Nowy Sącz, Elbląg and Malbork. Behind every stitch is a person with a name, a story and a craft mindset that shows in every finished product. No factory, no anonymous supply chain — just long-term partnerships built on trust and mutual respect.
Nowy Sącz – The Beginning
Our first collaboration started in Nowy Sącz, a small town in southern Poland.
Through a local craftsmanship platform, we met Seweryn – the first artisan to sew our bags.
That was four years ago. Since then, Seweryn and his team have been handcrafting our laptop bags, wallets and weekend bags.
It's a true family business — the same people, the same atmosphere, the same attention to detail.
Seweryn often says:
"Mr. Wojtek, you'll see — everyone who buys this bag will be happy."
And every time we receive a new batch, we know he's right.
Elbląg – A Second Start
Our second partner is Iwona from Elbląg, in northern Poland.
She left the mass-production fashion industry, bought old sewing machines and started over — repairing clothes and bags. Today, three years later, she runs her small workshop together with her husband. He helps with logistics; she designs and sews.
As a master leatherworker, Iwona sews Plant Inside Laptop Bags, Lunch Bags and MacBook Cases. And she explains directly why small series are not just a personal preference for her — but a quality decision:
"I much prefer sewing a few pieces of each product than 50 or 100 of the same thing. Sewing 100 identical bags is very monotonous — you lose focus. 10 pieces and then a switch to something different is simply more interesting."
— Iwona, master leatherworker, Elbląg

What sounds like a personal preference is actually a quality argument: craft requires attention. And attention requires variety.
Small series are not only better for the environment — they are better for the people who make them.
More on why we deliberately work in small production runs in our article Small Series vs. Mass Production.
Malbork – Full Circle
Our third workshop is in Malbork, the hometown of Plant Inside.
It's a full circle story — my wife has been a customer of this workshop for over twenty years.
When we introduced our crossbody bag line, she suggested we contact Anna, the owner.
Today we work side by side. The same seamstresses, the same machines — strong, proven, reliable.
Anna trusts her instincts more than any trend.
She once told me:
"Mr. Wojtek, that thread colour won't match — let's use this one instead. Trust me."
And of course — she was right.

Trust, Character and Craft
Our bags are not made for storage.
We create in response to real orders, and we speak with our partners almost every day. Every bag is made with focus, every stitch checked, every decision made together.
As Iwona once said: "Every bag has its own character — a bit like my mood that day."
We see it exactly the same way. Because when handcraft becomes expression, every piece carries a small part of the person who made it.
What this looks like in practice — from workshop to finished product — is described in more detail in our article Handmade Bags Made in Europe: Why We Produce in Poland.

Fairness First
We believe real sustainability is more than just a material.
It starts with relationships. With trust, fairness and mutual respect.
Our workshops don't compete with each other. Each produces different models, at rates we agree on together.
It might not be the most economical system — but it's the most honest one.
Because sustainability also means: working together, not against each other.
The materials our workshops work with every day — Viridis®, the plant-based leather made from European corn and wheat — were chosen deliberately: for their quality, their origin and their durability. How the material holds up after years of daily use is documented in our real-life report How Durable Is Vegan Leather Really?
🌱 Worth Knowing
According to the European Craftsmanship and SME Report, fewer than 3% of all fashion products made in the EU today are handcrafted — a dramatic decline from the 1970s, when handmade production accounted for over 30% of output. What was once standard has become the exception. Plant Inside is part of that exception — deliberately and without compromise.

FAQ
Where are Plant Inside bags made?
All Plant Inside products are handcrafted in small workshops in Poland — in Nowy Sącz, Elbląg and Malbork. We've worked with the same partners for years and know the people personally.
Why does Plant Inside work with several small workshops instead of one large factory?
Because small workshops make something possible that large factories cannot: attention. Every stitch is checked by a person, every batch made without rushing. That's not romanticism — that's quality control.
How many bags does a workshop produce at once?
We produce in small series — deliberately and without rushing. No overproduction for warehouses, just manufacturing based on real demand.
Are the working conditions fair?
Yes. We work to EU standards for wages and working conditions. Our workshop partners are not anonymous suppliers — we know their names, visit them and communicate directly.
Why does handcrafted production cost more?
Because it takes time, skill and fair pay. A bag sewn by a person is not a mass-produced item — it's an object with a story. That's reflected in the price. And in the quality that lasts for years.
Can I visit the workshops?
As a small family business we don't run regular visits — but we're happy to talk openly about our production partners and the process behind every product.
From the workshop in Malbork. Across the table in Elbląg. All the way to you.
