How to Tell a Gift Is Actually Vegan
With accessories, "vegan" often ends up as a label on the packaging that says very little about what the material, glue and thread are actually made from. Three checks help.
1. The main material
Look for a specific material name instead of "faux leather" or "vegan material." A lot of vegan materials are still plastic-based, PU or PVC. That's not automatically a bad thing, but it's worth knowing. Our materials are Viridis® (69% plant-based, from corn, wheat and cellulose, the rest is PU), Vegea® (grape pomace) and Washpapa® (paper textile from Germany, cellulose with synthetic latex). 2. Glues, waxes and finishes
Even when the main material is animal-free, animal-derived glues, beeswax or shellac can still show up in the finishing. If you're not sure, ask, a serious brand will have an answer.
3. Thread, lining and details
Stitching thread, interior lining and trim details get overlooked more often than they should. Silk or wool can hide there too. A good sign is a brand that describes its whole supply chain and points to independent proof, like the "Animal Free by LAV" certification our Viridis® supplier carries.

That's why we work in small batches, by hand. Iwona in Elbląg would rather sew a few pieces of each style than a hundred identical ones, because attention to detail slips somewhere around repetition number fifty. Every product comes with a 1-year warranty. In the interest of full honesty: matt finishes develop a slight patina over time, and the lighter nubuck colors need a bit of care.
