Kinga designed it. And carries it every day.

Kinga knows exactly what fits in a baguette bag.

Not because she memorised the dimensions — but because she designed the bag herself. And because she has been carrying the Plant Inside Baguette Bag in Black Matt every single day for the past six months. To work, to restaurants, on city walks, on dates.

After six months of daily use, the bag looks brand new. No signs of wear, no faded edges, no tired zipper.

This is not a product description. This is her honest report — from designer to daily carrier.

The Baguette Bag from the Inside — What's Actually in There?

A classic baguette bag is compact. Sometimes very compact — 26 to 28 cm long, flat, designed for the absolute essentials.

The Plant Inside Baguette Bag is different. At 32 × 15 × 12 cm, it is noticeably more generous than most models sold under this name. Not large — but surprisingly spacious. And you only really notice that when you start packing it.

Whether the baguette bag is still trending in 2026 — and why that is actually the wrong question, as our article on baguette bags and slow fashion explains.

The Interior: Two Compartments, One Zipper

The bag has one main compartment and two inner pockets:

  • Zipped inner pocket — ideal for keys, cards or anything that cannot get lost
  • Open inner pocket — for things that need to be quickly accessible: lipstick, earphones, a small notebook

Simple — and intentionally so. But this exact layout makes a real difference in everyday life. No digging around at the bottom of the bag. No "where are my keys?".

What Kinga Carries Every Day — An Honest List

"The baguette bag very quickly became my everyday companion. What I value most is the capacity — it literally fits everything, which for many women is both a plus and a small curse at the same time. 😉 For me it's definitely an advantage, because I can easily fit in a water bottle, phone, keys, sunglasses and all the little things we carry with us every day."

— Kinga, designer of the Plant Inside Baguette Bag

This is Kinga's daily essentials in the baguette bag:

  • Smartphone
  • Wallet or card holder
  • Keys
  • Water bottle (0.5 l)
  • Sunglasses
  • Lipstick and small cosmetics
  • Sometimes: a small notebook

And yes — all of that fits in. At the same time.

Everything that fits – smartphone, wallet, sunglasses, cosmetics and more. More than you'd expect from a baguette bag.

The Small Surprise: a 0.5l Bottle Fits Inside

This is the detail that surprises most people.

A baguette bag — with a water bottle inside? Sounds like too little space. But it isn't. Thanks to the 12 cm depth and 15 cm width, a 0.5l bottle fits comfortably in the main compartment — upright or slightly angled, depending on the rest of the contents.

A 1-litre bottle no longer fits. But for most everyday situations, 0.5l is more than enough.

Two Ways to Carry — in the Hand or on the Shoulder

The Plant Inside Baguette Bag has two short handles — one on each side of the bag. Both handles are carried together, whether in the hand or on the shoulder.

This gives two natural carrying styles:

In the hand — both handles held together, the bag hanging loosely at your side. Elegant, structured, for evenings and meetings.

On the shoulder — both handles over the shoulder, the bag sitting close to the body under the arm. Relaxed, secure, for city walks or the office.

Kinga switches between the two depending on the situation and outfit. That was the idea behind the design — a bag that adapts without compromising its character.

Which Situations Is the Baguette Bag Right For?

Kinga takes the baguette bag everywhere. And that is not an exaggeration.

Restaurants and evenings out — the structured silhouette looks elegant without being overdressed. Carried in the hand, it works with almost any evening outfit.

Work — no laptop, but everything else a normal working day requires. Phone, keys, wallet, water bottle, small cosmetics. The ideal companion for days without bulky documents.

City walks — carried on the shoulder, it leaves the hands free enough for coffee, shopping bags or the phone. Not as hands-free as a crossbody — but free enough.

Dates — this might be the situation it was made for. Compact, elegant, with character. It says more about the person carrying it than a large all-purpose bag.

It's for you if:

  • you need only the essentials every day
  • you like a mix of elegance and practicality
  • you enjoy switching between two carrying styles
  • you want one bag that works for almost every situation

It's not for you if:

  • you always need completely free hands
  • you carry a laptop or many documents every day
  • you tend to throw things in anywhere — the structure of the baguette bag asks for a little order

Six Months Later — What Does the Bag Look Like Today?

Kinga has been carrying the Black Matt every day since January. That is — roughly speaking — over 150 days, several hundred times packed and unpacked, rain, sunlight, restaurant chairs, office desks.

The result: the bag looks brand new.

No rubbed edges, no discolouration, no stretched zipper. The Viridis® material has kept its shape and colour completely — exactly as it was on the day of purchase.

That is not a coincidence. It is the result of a material developed specifically for exactly this kind of use.

What Vegan Leather Really Holds Up to in Everyday Life

Viridis® is water-resistant, dimensionally stable and responds to daily wear differently from standard PU — no cracking, no peeling, no surface that starts to look tired.

What Viridis® actually is and what it is made from — plant-based leather from European corn and wheat, free from PVC and microplastics — is explained in detail in our material article.

How vegan materials hold up over years of use — with real photos and honest results — is documented in our long-term test of vegan leather after 2–4 years of daily use.

Kinga's Verdict — in Her Own Words

"It's an incredibly versatile model. I take it to restaurants, to work, on city walks and on dates. That's exactly why I'd recommend it to most women — especially those who like a combination of comfort and classic form. I do think it won't be ideal for people who always need their hands completely free, or who tend to put things down wherever — in that case a crossbody bag works better.

When I designed it, I wanted to combine aesthetics with functionality. I wanted to create a model that is timeless and elegant — but genuinely practical in everyday use. That's where the capacity comes from, the useful pockets, and the two carrying options — so it adapts to different situations and needs."

FAQ

What fits in the Plant Inside Baguette Bag?

Smartphone, wallet or card holder, keys, sunglasses, small cosmetics, lipstick — and a 0.5l water bottle. At 32 × 15 × 12 cm, the bag holds surprisingly much for its compact silhouette.

Does a water bottle fit in the baguette bag?

Yes — a 0.5l bottle fits easily in the main compartment. A 1-litre bottle is too large.

How do you carry a baguette bag?

The Plant Inside Baguette Bag has two short handles — one on each side. Both handles are carried together, either in the hand or on the shoulder. Both styles work well and suit different situations.

Is the Plant Inside Baguette Bag practical for everyday use?

Yes — for most everyday situations that don't involve a laptop. Designer Kinga has been carrying it daily for six months to work, restaurants and city walks. After half a year, the bag still looks brand new.

How do you care for a vegan baguette bag made from Viridis®?

Viridis® is water-resistant and easy to maintain. Light marks can be removed with a damp cloth without any cleaning products. No special care routine needed.

What is the difference from a crossbody bag?

A crossbody bag hangs from a long strap over the shoulder and leaves the hands completely free. The baguette bag is carried in the hand or on the shoulder — more elegant, but less hands-free. If completely free hands are a priority, a crossbody is the better choice.
